New Railroad Bridge Construction
Construction on the South Branch Valley Railroad Bridge 6.5 was recently completed.
J.B. Turman Engineering prepared the contract plans and related documents, which included 14 timber spans and 15 timber bents. In addition to the timber structure, steel pile and concrete lagging wingwalls were designed at the bridge abutment.
This project, located in Hampshire County, was unique in many ways and presented several design and constructibility challenges. Overall, the project was a success, completed on time and on budget.
